APPLICATION PROCESS

Anybody can make a referral for support from the charity although the applicant needs to be a person who knows and understands the needs of the child/young person in question and can both rationalise and communicate this in the application.

Typically, health and social care professionals make requests to us for awards. Our support is direct and practical and given with the aim of providing positive experiences/opportunities and helping individuals move towards independence. We ensure that all requests are necessary, and, in the case of direct purchases, we ensure that items purchased represent good value for money.

If you are unsure about making an application, please do not hesitate to contact Allison at allison@brightly.je for pre-application advice.

Applications may be made for children and young people who

  • are living in residential care, foster care, or with extended family - Child Looked After (CLA),
  • have been in care (care experienced),
  • acknowledged as being on the edge of care, being on the Child Protection Register, or being identified as a child in need (CIN).

To make an application please complete the online application form which you will find in the professional's section. To access the professional's section, you will need a password, which is available by emailing allison@brightly.je

Some applications, usually those for Children in Need (CIN) may require the parent or carer to complete an ‘Authority to Disclose’ form, issued by the Social Security Department (available in the professional's section or from the Social Security Department).
